AMBASSADORIAL FORUM 2nd Africa India Summit – Enhancing Partnership: Shared Vision To be presented by Mr. Virendra Gupta, High Commissioner of the Republic of India to South Africa The summit culminated in close cooperation and interaction between Africa and India, which has stimulated a rich fabric of close, deep and multilayered relations, over the years. The First India-Africa Forum in 2008 was a milestone event and its outcomes became the guiding parameters of India’s deepening engagement with Africa. We also recall that Africa and India have been fraternal partners and allies in the struggle for independence and achievement of self-determination. The second summit reaffirm that their partnership will remain based on the fundamental principles of equality, mutual respect, mutual benefit, and the historical understanding amongst our peoples. The speaker will examine the issues featured in the Declaration such as multilateralism and South-South cooperation, United Nation reforms and expansion of the Security Council, eradication of arms trafficking, countering of terrorism, piracy, drugs and human trafficking, climate change, enhancement of South-South cooperation, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
