“Professor Bernard M. Magubane at 80: the Celebration of a Life”

The African Knowledge Producers Series This is to announce the 2010 Social Science Research in Africa conference taking place in Tshwane, South Africa from 26 to 28 August 2010.

The Social Science Research in Africa conference which is held every two years is being re-launched as The African Knowledge Producers Series.

The theme of the series is “African Knowledge Producers-a critical engagement” and this year we will have a special focus on the life and works of Professor Bernard Magubane of South Africa, who turns 80 in August 2010. This is a call for papers that critically engage with the works of leading African scholars in the fields of the Social Sciences, Humanities, and Literature, including (but not limited to) Bernard Magubane.

Some of the confirmed keynote speakers at the 2010 conference include: Mr Kgalema Motlanthe, the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Ms Naledi Pandor, the Minister for Science and Technology, Professor Ntongela Masilela, and Professor Ifi Amadiume.

Abstracts should be sent in electronic form (Microsoft Word) as e-mail attachment, not later than Wednesday 16 July 2010 to: Arlene Grossberg, email: acgrossberg@hsrc.ac.za.
